ACDC.Com Has Turned On The Lights!

With little fanfare and no email announcement (that I know of) ACDC.com officially opened for business according to a message posted on their site earlier today.

Here's the statement in it's entirety:

ACDC.com Lights Up!

The day of reckoning is upon us. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here, and we're pleased to have you joining us as we turn on the power at AC/DC's official website, ACDC.com!

Over the last few months at ACDC.com, you've gotten plugged in, rocked out to "Back In Black," given us a tour of your private AC/DC sanctums and taken a peek at the band's personal stash of photos. You had your taste - now it's time to dig in whole hog.

Here's just a little of what you'll find now on ACDC.com:

The latest news on the band, from rumors dispelled to the latest on album releases, appearances and more...all in NEWS.

A tour of AC/DC's past, complete with a daily lesson in AC/DC history (schoolboy uniform not required)...all in ON THIS DAY.

The band's discography and official bio...all in HISTORY.

Photos from the band's personal collection and previews from AC/DC DVDs...all in MULTIMEDIA.

A grab-bag of banners to snag and hang on your personal webspace...all in DOWNLOADS.

A chance to win amazing AC/DC prizes. For starters, we're offering a Peavey bass signed by Cliff Williams. Visit CONTESTS for your chance to win!

And, don't forget, we're still adding your videos to the site as part of our ACDC Blow Up Your Video call to action! So, if you've got a YouTube account, we invite you to send a video greeting to the band or your best Brian Johnson impression. Give us whatever you've got, if you dare. Click here for more information and to check out what some of your fellow rockers have already submitted.

Of course, there will be much more coming in the very near future, but we couldn't make you wait any longer.

So what does all this mean to the average AC/DC fan? Well, it sounds like to me that the band and their corporate partners are gearing up the old marketing machine to make sure they're good and ready to sell some new product. At least I hope so...

So strap on your headphones ladies and gentlemen and let's hope we'll soon be hearing the dirty rhythms of new AC/DC music once again.

P.S. I love the fly!

Thanks Maggie! Yeah, funny how they didn't send out the email until the next day.
